Troop 77 - 2003 Spring Break: Two Coldspring

What: |
We will do two 15 mile, two 25 mile, and one 50
mile bicycle road rides on one of the "best bike rides" in
Texas. |
Scouting: |
By participating inn all seven of the rides, a
Scout will have the opportunity to complete cycling merit badge. |
Details: |
We have a group campsite reserved
(#210-3113). There are hot showers at this campground. Host is
at 936-653-3952.
Meals: You will need a sack lunch on Sunday of our departure and
Saturday of our return. You will need 6 breakfasts, 6 dinners, and 5
lunches. The troop will have a lunch stop with food and drinks
provided on Friday during the 50 mile ride.
You will need a bicycle, one spare tire, two spare tubes, tube repair
kit, and tools. Also, a CYCLING HELMET IS REQUIRED. |

Require-
ments: |
Travel in Class A uniform. Camp in
Class B uniform. Bring a Boy Scout handbook and personal first aid
kit.

Route: |
From Lago Vista, east on FM 1431, then south on
I-35 to Round Rock, east on US 79 (joined by US 190 east of
Rockdale) to Hearne, south on US 190 to Bryan, east on TX 30 to
Huntsville, south on I-45 to New Waverly, east on TX 150 for 25
miles, south on FM 2025 for 1/2 mile, turn left to Double
Lake Recreation Area near Coldspring. Reverse for return.
Driving time is approximately 3.5 hours.
